Blue Stone is a sedimentary rock of gray-blue color with main deposits in Belgium, France and Ireland.
It is a hard limestone, solid, heavy and compact as marble. It has the characteristics of resistance to weathering, dirt and pollution, it is non-porous, naturally waterproof, resists moisture and dries quickly.
It changes color to black / light gray / blue-gray according to processing and finishing.
The blue stone is mostly a building material but also can be used as ornamental stone.
Today it is well-known for its applications in the field of architecture and interior-design, for decorations, flooring, wall covering, thresholds, window sills, and work surfaces. It is suitable for areas that require a non-slip flooring as coping on swimming pools and edging in bathrooms.
It is extracted from the quarry in blocks and is usually only occasionally processed with splitting, almost always along the direction of the vein. Usually you obtain thin veneers from the sawn blocks. Some blocks can be split with automatic H-frame machines, such as Px series, or if the stone is particularly tall, even on P4 machines equipped with side blades.
The two main Horizontal machines have been designed by MEC, T1 and T2 of the Pitching line, they have different characteristics, depending on your needs. The first has only one head with chisel. The Horizontal T2, however, has two heads for increased productivity of pitched stones.
The machines of the MEC Fast Series are designed to cut with optimal performance any kind of irregular stone, including, of course, the blue stone. Depending on the level of productivity or performance you want, it is possible to choose between systems with one, two, three or five diamond blades.
Since 1996 Mec has successfully established itself in the splitting and processing of stone field. Today Mec is present in more than 70 countries in the world with its powerful, high-precision and fully customizable machines.
