MEC's history is intertwined with the personal history of its founder and owner Giuseppe Nicoletti (image on right).

Mr Nicoletti started working for a well known local firm straight after qualifying as a mechanic. Not long afterwards he went to work in Switzerland, and it was here that his personal and working life began to move in the direction in which it has taken him today.
Starting out as an ordinary manual worker, Giuseppe moved up through the ranks to become Production Director. During this period he also got married and settled into life in Switzerland. However, the family decided to return to Italy in 1976 to ensure an Italian education for their children. This 'upheaval' meant that Giuseppe Nicoletti was once again at a starting point, and he returned to work for the company which had originally given him employment when he had first left school.
 

He established a  spin-off company concerned with precision hydraulics in 1981 and after observing the markets for a while, he later introduced machinery for working stone. Stone working was still mainly a manually based job, and Nicoletti realised there was an opening for machinery and more automated processes. In a short time it became obvious that real potential lay in the area of stone splitting machinery, and so together with his children, talented mechanics and designers, Giuseppe Nicoletti decided to focus all his energy and expertise in this direction. MEC Srl was established in 1996 near Roncegno, however in 2002 the company moved it's base to its current location in the small industrial estate near Scurelle, Trentino, and has gone on to develop into the successful business which it is today.
